Whenever someone visits our coastal city, we recommend to reserve a day for seeing Tabarca island, the only one which is inhabited in the Valencian Community<\/strong>. How to get to Tabarca Island?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

When you decide to pay a visit to the island of Tabarca, the first question coming up is: how do I get there? Take it easy, because it\u2019s very simple.

The journey from Benidorm is worth enjoying<\/strong> as you have 1h and 15\u2019 to get there. What means that there will be plenty of time to relax watching and listening the waves colliding with the boat. In addition, as you move away from the coast, you will observe a panoramic view of Benidorm like never before<\/strong>. And, you know what’s best? There are boats overlooking the bottom of the sea! So, you\u2019ll have the chance to watch all the species of fish that live in the Mediterranean Sea. It\u2019s an amazing experience!

Trips depart in the morning and return in the afternoon<\/strong>. The journey usually takes place in the Sea World, a modern catamaran of 34 meters long and space for 250 people. These sea trips are made quite regularly depending on the season.

We recommend you go to see <\/strong>Birros <\/strong><\/em>and <\/strong>Guardia <\/strong><\/em>coves<\/strong>. These two small and sandy coves are placed in the southern part of the archipelago. Visit San Pedro and San Pablo churches<\/strong>

If you are one of those who enjoy soaking up the culture and traditions<\/strong> of places when visiting for the first time, St. Peter\u2019s and St. Paul\u2019s church are a must in Tabarca. The building was made in 1759 and 1770, like the rest of the island fortification.

La <\/strong>Puerta de San Rafael<\/strong><\/em>,<\/strong> better known as Puerta de Levante<\/strong><\/em> o de <\/strong>La Caleta<\/strong>, <\/em>is the first gate you see when entering the village. So, take the camera with you because a very good picture is assured at that point. Furthermore, next to those village gates, la Plaza de Carloforte appears – the Sardinian city that was colonized by Tabarca local people. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the other end of the island, in the northernmost point of Tabarca, is the Puerta de San Miguel<\/em><\/strong>. Also known as Puerta de Alicante or Puerta del Muelle, this gate also allows to enter the citadel from the old natural wharf.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What to eat in Tabarca island?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This question has a clear answer: the caldero.<\/strong><\/em> When you visit this Valencian Community island, tasting its star dish is a must.

The caldero <\/em>is usually cooked with a particular fish<\/strong>, called red scorpionfish, that lives in the local area.
