When you think of Benidorm it is difficult not to associate it with skyscrapers and the prominent views of the Mediterranean coast. Apart from the sea, beaches, leisure and good weather, among other things, it is undeniable to recognise those buildings that make the city recognisable and that make up a unique place in Spain. Come and discover in this post the skyline of Benidorm, the little Manhattan of the Mediterranean coast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Skyline Benidorm, past and present<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

To talk about the Benidorm Skyline<\/strong> we have to know the history of Benidorm’s skyscrapers. This begins in the 50’s with the development plan. From the 70’s onwards is when the model of large blocks of flats began to be defined, which would later become. This type of urban planning was the key to defining the tourist model that stands out today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Perhaps because of this, because of the great power it has from a tourism point of view<\/strong>, it has resulted in a perfect and profitable joint harmonisation that has allowed an exponential growth in tourism over the years up to the present day. Of the many buildings that have been constructed over the years, be they hotels or flat blocks, both have a common denominator: the amazing skyline of Benidorm<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A reality of the Mediterranean coast<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Before highlighting the most iconic buildings, it is worth pointing out the group of buildings as landmarks in height, which give a very characteristic overall image to the city. Within these landmarks as a whole, there are relevant constructions that hold up the sunny sky of Benidorm. The tallest is INTEMPO<\/strong>, looking like a large letter M with golden surfaces, which rises to the southwest of the city, with its 192 metres high and 47 floors. Its construction has recently been completed and it is the tallest residential skyscraper in Europe. The GRAN HOTEL BALI<\/strong> is the second tallest building in Benidorm, with 186 metres and 52 floors. The third in discord is the LUGANO TOWER<\/strong> with 158 metres and 43 floors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Skyline Benidorm, the essence of the Costa Blanca<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The city’s nickname “Manhattan of the Mediterranean” is due to its more than 60 skyscrapers<\/strong>, almost 30 of which are more than 100 metres high! It is considered the city with the most skyscrapers in Spain, and the third in Europe after London and Milan<\/strong>. It is an honour for our hotel to be in a city so well known and admired thanks to its skyscrapers and buildings!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Its urban essence, together with its climate, has given it a unique character that has made it one of the most outstanding destinations in Europe. This skyline is the one that has been included among the thirteen “most amazing” in the world<\/strong>, according to the website minube.com, one of the most important digital communities of users and experiences in the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The sustainability argument for this model of the city, according to visit benidorm’s own website, is based on the fact that “the construction of high-rise buildings consumes less land and fewer resources than scattered construction. Fewer kilometres of asphalt are needed and less is spent on providing basic services to them”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We recommend a visit to the Benidorm cross<\/strong>, located at the southern end of the “Serra Gelada<\/strong>” natural park. There we find one of the most emblematic viewpoints of the coast of Alicante through which it is possible to contemplate a panoramic view of this cosmopolitan mix of urban development and Mediterranean coastline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
