In this publication we become your guide to make the most of every day you spend on the Costa Blanca. Discover the towns near Benidorm that you can not miss!
Teulada-Moraira
It is a municipality located in the Marina Alta. It is composed of two different areas of urban character. Moraira is the coastal area and Teulada is further inland. Both share the same town hall.
In the area of Teulada we recommend the Church of Santa Catalina and the Ermita de la Font Santa. Examples of all the history that surrounds the town. For its part, in the area of Moraira is waiting for you its Castle and Watchtower. They are located in the highest part of the town and have incredible views of the Peñón de Ifach of Calpe. As a fact we will tell you that its main purpose was to defend the area from pirates.
Denia
It is synonymous with the union between beach and culture. Its historic center is a must-see because you can enjoy both modern buildings together with the old fishmongers’ houses.
On a cultural level, you have its castle of Arab origin and its famous Toy Museum. It is the farthest from Benidorm in this list, but we could not fail to include this wonderful town.
Altea
Altea is possibly the most visited town in the province along with Benidorm. From any corner you can enjoy beautiful postcards, both the sea and its narrow cobblestone streets. In your visit to its Old Town, you will not fail to be accompanied by the blue-tiled houses and artisan stores.
At the top, you will find the Church of the Señora del Consuelo, next to the photographed Mirador and some enviable restoration options.
If you visit in summer, the Paseo Marítimo and its beach area are a must. It is ideal to spend a day here and enjoy the most typical gastronomy of Alicante.
Want more? Very close to Alta Hills and in the direction of Calpe, you will come across the wonderful Orthodox Church. Perfect if you are looking for something more unusual.
Guadalest
One of our favorite towns for excursions. Undoubtedly, it is one of the places that we will never tire of recommending.
This village, of barely 200 inhabitants, is located in the region of the Marina Alta, in the interior of the province of Alicante. The valley of Guadalest is located in a mountainous enclave that looks like something out of a fairy tale, both for its iconic castle and its turquoise reservoir. In fact, in 1974 it was declared a Historic-Artistic Site, earning a place in the Association of “The Most Beautiful Villages of Spain“.
The castle is a Muslim fortress dating back to the 11th century and stood out during the Middle Ages for its strategic key position. On your way to the highest part, you will come across different chapels and museums… You will have to discover them yourself!
Jávea
One of the most famous towns thanks to its coastline and the magnificent atmosphere it hosts during the summer months. Far from this, this town has the Route of the Viewpoints. What is it about? They are nothing more and nothing less than fifteen scenarios in key points along the Mediterranean, ideal for enjoying nature and the sea. One of these points is one of our favorite coves in the province, as is the Cala Granadella.
Polop
The smallest municipality in this list. We wanted to include it for its natural environment and its medieval Old Town. In fact, even today there are remains of its ancient wall at the highest point. Following this line, you can enjoy its amazing castle dating from the twelfth century. In addition, in the center of town you can see its famous fountains decorated with the official coats of arms of other municipalities in the province.
Undoubtedly, one of the villages near Benidorm not so famous but that does not stop surprising you.
Calpe
A municipality known by anyone thanks to its iconic Peñón de Ifach and its numerous beaches and coves that surround it. The whole municipality is an indispensable complement that ensures the delights of those who visit it.
One of the towns near Benidorm most frequented by the regular inhabitants of our city for all the possibilities it offers.
Alfaz del Pi
This municipality hosts a large number of foreign population throughout the year, as happens with Benidorm. It is next to the Natural Park of the Serra Gelada, surrounded by lush vegetation and large cliffs. You can also find places of tourist interest such as El Faro de Punta Albir and Torre Bombarda.
It is also a good option to enjoy the summer, as its beach is one of the longest in the province. It is away from the urban center and is part of the Natural Park.
