Where can you go diving in Benidorm?

Diving in Benidorm can be a perfect plan if you like this water sport. Moreover, the area is ideal for both expert divers and those who are just starting out. In the latter case, it is, as the waters are calm and transparent.

The seabed near this town hides the best areas on the Costa Blanca for water sports such as scuba diving and snorkelling. In addition to the above, the good temperature of Benidorm and its waters allow you to practice this sport all year round.

In the following sections we would like to show you where you will find the best places to go diving in the Benidorm area.

La Llosa

When you arrive in Benidorm, one of the first things that catches your eye is Benidorm Island. In the surrounding area you’ll find different areas for diving, but the best is undoubtedly La Llosa.

This is an abyss with a depth of more than 30 metres behind this island. You will be able to discover a wide range of marine fauna, with countless crustaceans and octopuses.

Not only is it a quiet place, but many divers consider it to be the best dive site on the Costa Blanca and one of the best on the whole of the Spanish mainland.

Los Arcos

Very close to Benidorm Island, just 5 minutes away, you will discover Los Arcos. You can go down just over 20 metres to contemplate coral walls and rocky substrates. It is best to go down parallel to the island to make the most of all that the landscape has to offer.

Afterwards, and thanks to the fact that it is an area of transparent waters, you will be able to contemplate its impressive seabed. It is an area that is sure to impress you, as it has great aesthetic beauty.

Punta Garbí

This is a perfect location for everyone, but especially for those who are just starting out in the world of diving. It is a 20-metre drop-off and the seabed is sandy in many parts. In addition, you will be able to discover different marine species, and you may even see some moray eels.

What do you need to take into account if you want to dive safely in Benidorm?

If you are an experienced diver, it will be clear to you how to act at all times. However, if you are just starting out, it is a good idea to continue to follow all these tips:

  • The right day. Choose the right day to dive. The weather should be good and you should be feeling good at all levels. If the sea is a bit rough or you have had a bad night, it is better to postpone the dive for another time.
  • Professional instructors. Get started in this sport with professional instructors who can guide you at all times. This is essential to avoid taking unnecessary risks and to know how to act in case of difficulties.
  • Doubts. Before the dive, answer all your questions. Don’t leave anything unanswered.
  • Signals. Pay attention to all the signals that your instructor will tell you what to do if you have any kind of complication when you are underwater. Of course, use them at the slightest suspicion that something is wrong.
  • Breathing. Stay calm at all times and breathe calmly, don’t forget that you have oxygen and that breathing well depends only on you.
  • Wildlife. Do not get too close to the different animals you will encounter on your route and try not to touch them.
  • Movements. Don’t make sudden movements and minimise them, so that you will tire less and not consume too much oxygen.
  • Ascent. It is very important that you ascend slowly, as your instructor has explained to you, making the stops that he/she indicates.
  • Partners. Collaborate with your instructors and also with your colleagues as much as you can.
  • Equipment. Check that all equipment is OK and that you know how to use it properly.

The tips we have given you are mainly for beginners, but we recommend that, even if you are an expert diver, you should be very careful when practising this sport. If you do it safely, nothing will happen, but imprudence can be very expensive.
